In order to teach this old dog his new tricks
I think a little history is in order.
I was born to a farming family, many more years ago than I care to remember, Scotland. Having been raised to take on the family business, at a time when agriculture in the UK was in decline. I took over the reins in 1981 from my father the day I got married. From then till 1987 I made a financial success of the enterprise and was poised for expansion when disaster struck. A grain merchant we sold our cereal produce to, went to the wall and took us with him.
My son was born that year (but that is another tale). Needless to say I was devastated with the collapse of the farm,
My beautiful daughter was born 4 years later, whereupon I spent 5 glorious years as a househusband. It was around this time I taught myself computers, both building the hardware and software installation.
While working for myself I started a company with 2 friends to run a steam train on the West Highland Railway.
Then I had the strangest job of all, so far, I spent a year as a professional corpse.
So this dog, who has been learning new tricks throughout his working life, is now ready and poised to learn the best trick of all:
How to work to live and not just live to work
